While the popular beach on Lake Clear (located 1.2 miles north of the junction of Rt. 30 and Rt. 186) is on the radar for most folks for a summer swim, for birders it is a great place to visit during the fall. They can bring their scope and scan the water for a variety of aquatic species on the move including uncommon species such as Surf Scoter, White-winged Scoter, and Red-necked Grebe. The lake is also well known for the large numbers of migrating Common Loons it attracts during the fall.
