Sweet Spots - Local Favorites

Lake Colby

At the public boat launch on Lake Colby you can launch your boat directly across from the hospital and paddle or motor (10 horse power or less) straight across towards the railroad tracks where you will find excellent fishing including salmon and small mouth bass fishing.

Lake Flower

Utilize Lake Flower's public Boat Launch directly across from the vistors center and navigate the path of the Saranac River to Oseetah Lake, Kiwassa Lake or the locks to enter into Lower Saranac. This paddle or ride boasts amazing views of the High Peaks along with a scenic ride of both nature and beautiful Adirondack lake camps.

Lower Saranac Lake

On Lower Saranac, which can be reached through the channels from Lake Flower or by The Ampersand Bay or Second Pond Route 3 Boat Launch, enjoy a full day on the water! You will find islands galore including a family play land of sand dunes and a man made kiddie pool. Pack a picnic lunch and plan a visit to the many state day use sites or visit the Bluff Islands rock cliffs for a great hangout spot and jumping too. On the north shore you will find excellent swimming and beaches.

Middle Saranac Lake

Middle Saranac can be accessed by motor boat through the channel off of Lower Saranac Lake or by paddling at Bartlett Carry Road or South Creek Route 3 Boat Launch. Set sail on Middle Saranac and head for the half mile beach along the eastern shoreline for a full family day of fun. Middle is known for excellent bass fishing, and Weller Pond connected to Middle is a well know location for a certain catch!

Upper Saranac Lake

Upper Saranac is the largest of the Saranac Lake Chain, and like the other lakes in the chain, part of the 90 Miler Canoe Race. Upper can only be accessed by boat launch or Indian Carry by paddle. There is no navigable waters connecting Upper to iot's sister lakes. Upper is the place to go if your interested in catching a glimpse of an Adirondack Great Camp or to enjoy miles and miles of pristine water. Find Tommy's Rock and play like a local. You may even come across a rope swing in the trees on your ride!

Upper St. Regis is an excellent spot for boating, Great Camps, and the beautiful campus of Paul Smiths College. Lake Clear offers boating and a long sandy beach to enjoy for eyeryone.  All of our waterways and lakes can be accessed by paddling- there's something for everyone on the water in Saranac Lake!
