Pendragon Theatre Company
Pendragon Theatre is the only year round, professional, producing Theatre Company in the Adirondacks. Pendragon Theatre is an ensemble of artists, based in the Adirondacks, dedicated to preserving the vitality and enhancing the quality of professional theatre through year round performance and education programs. This summer the company's productions include: Lend Me A Tenor, Sleeping Beauty, The Fantasticks, and The Clean House. The company also produces a Fall production that tours, in-school performances and school programming, a Christmas holiday play, new play readings and a variety of special events. Nearby, the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, is a year round performing and visual arts
facility presenting 250+ programs a year. Serving the Northern New York region
for the past 30 years, the LPCA consistently presents arts of the highest caliber
in music, dance and theatre performances, film exhibitions and visual arts
presentations. In addition they provide special arts-in education programs,
workshops and residencies for aspiring and renowned artists.
LIVE MUSIC
Free outdoor concerts are the rule in July and August, as the Downtown Thursday Night entertainment series presents the finest local and regional musicians on the Berkeley Green each Thursday night, while the Saranac Lake Friday Night In The Park Concert Series brings both regionally and nationally renowned bands to Riverside Park on the shore of Lake Flower every Friday night.
The Lake Placid Sinfonetta, is a professional chamber orchestra of 20 musicians, each of whom is a recognized artist in their own right. The Artistic Director/Conductor Mark Laycock is the conductor of the Princeton Symphony.
The Lake Placid Sinfonetta, is in residence at the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, for six weeks each summer.

A magnificent new Visitors Center and Museum Store welcome visitors to the stories of how people have lived, worked, traveled, and played, in the Adirondacks from the early 1800s to the present. Traditional skills demonstrations, hands-on activities, games for the whole family, and special events are all part of the Adirondack Museum experience.

While local pubs host a variety of bands throughout the year, summer brings a surge of live music to Saranac Lake. Each July, the Adirondack Festival of American Music is in residence, and for over 20 years has celebrated the imagination and exuberance of American music with concerts and workshops held at venues throughout the village.
ANTIQUING AND CRAFTS
Authentic Adirondack handiwork of local and regional artists is on display at craft shops across the area. Craft fairs include Craftfest in July, the Holiday Craft Show at North Country Community College in November and the Sparkle Village Holiday Craft Show & Sale, held in the Harrietstown Town Hall each December. These shows provide a festive atmosphere in which to enjoy the finest pottery, jewelry, weaving, carving, basketry and rustic furniture that the Adirondacks has to offer. Antique lovers from across the Northeast have come for over 40 years to the annual Antique Show and Sale, held each July in the Saranac lake . Antique shops throughout the area also provide opportunities to search for treasures in a number of charming settings.
FINE ARTS
Paintings, photographs, and sculptures by some of the most gifted artists in northern New York can be found at annual art shows such as the Paint and Palette Festival, held every August in the Harrietstown Town Hall, as well as at periodic shows at the Saranac Lake Free Library, the Adirondack Park Visitor Interpretive Center (VIC) in Paul Smiths and the Lake Placid Center for the Arts, and at smaller galleries throughout the region. Several galleries reside in downtown Saranac Lake: Adirondack Artists' Guild, Bluseed Studios, Mark Kurtz Photography, and Small Fortune Studio. HISTORIC PRESERVATION Saranac Lakes history as a pioneer health resort is kept alive through the efforts of: Historic Saranac Lake
(HSL, 891-4606), an organization dedicated to preserving the villages unique architectural and cultural heritage. Thanks to HSLs advocacy, 140 properties in and around the village have been added to the State and National Registers of Historic Places including the Bartok Cottage and the Union Depot. In addition, the Stevenson Society of America oversees the care of the Robert Louis Stevenson Cottage, the authors home in Saranac Lake during the winter of 1887-88.
