Oregon Plains Road

The east end of Bigelow Road (see additional write up) intersects with Oregon Plains Road, a paved, but snaking route through a wonderful stretch of boreal forest. The entire road can be great for boreal species of birds such as Black-backed Woodpecker, Gray Jay, and Boreal Chickadee and it is worth parking at the intersection of Bigelow Road to access both Oregon Plains and Bigelow in the same trip. A variety of warblers such as Magnolia, Yellow-rumped, and Northern Parula can also be found.  The access which Oregon Plains Road provides to Bigelow does have the drawback of offering a dumping ground for unwanted junk. Hopefully that bad habit can be stopped. But the boreal habitat makes a trip there an excellent choice for an excursion.
