June Events in Saranac Lake

A wide range of events await visitors to the Saranac Lake region this summer, beginning with a full June calendar of sports, cultural, nature events and more.

Get Outdoors!

If you're a nature lover, there are some events  that will help you get closer to and learn about some of our native creatures. On June 1 The Wild Center in Tupper Lake offers the Madawaska Owl Prowl in the vast and remote Santa Clara land tract. This evening event will hopefully turn up some of our more secretive denizens of the forest and you'll learn about their habits and their many strange hoots and calls. There are more educational events at both The Wild Center and the Paul Smiths Visitor Interpretive Center in Paul Smiths.

The weekend of June 6 brings the Great Adirondack Birding Celebration to the Paul Smiths Visitor Interpretive Center, this is the 12th year for this great 3-day event. The festival features field trips, lectures, workshops and a birdathon to name a few. A great opportunity to learn a lot about our native bird species if you're into birding.

SUP event

One of our events will help you get out on the waters of the Adirondacks like the couple in the video above! On June 6th stand up and take note of the Adirondack Stand Up Paddle Festival in Saranac Lake. The SUP Fest will celebrate the fastest growing paddling sport in America with fun for the entire family. Dealers will be on hand to help you demo and answer questions. Some of the highlights are:

  • SUP demos
  • On-water and dry-land clinics
  • SUP yoga and fitness classes
  • Exclusive deals from SUP retailers
  • Races, including a family fun race
  • Food vendors

 Walk into history

Every 2nd Thursday of the month through Columbus Day, Historic Saranac Lake offers a walking tour of Historic Downtown Saranac Lake from Riverside Park to the Saranac Laboratory Museum. Join the jaunt and learn about the rich history of this mountain village. Meet at the bandshell in Riverside Park at 10:30 a.m.
