Saranac Lake Central School has approximately 1400 students in grades K-12. Saranac Lake High School has been identified as one of the best high schools in both the country and NY state. Out of 22,000 high schools nationally we ranked 1692. In NY we ranked 214 out of 1165. This ranking has earned us US News and World Reports' silver medal. The High School building presently houses grades 9-12, with approximately 640 students. The Petrova School was built in 1924 with additions in 1936, 1969, and 1996. Presently the building houses grades K-8 with approximately 350 elementary students and approximately 400 Middle School students. The Bloomingdale School was built in 1967-68 as a 23,000 square foot elementary school. Presently the building houses grades K-5 with approximately 195 students.
