August 1, 2008-Radoslav Lorkovic, Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series. Drawing from a multitude of influences ranging from elegant classical and jazz styles to the rawest, most basic blues, country and soul, Radoslav Lorkovic has taken on an unusually broad musical spectrum and refined it into his distinctive piano stlye. His tenure on the R&B and folk circuits has culminated in five critically acclaimed solo recordings and numerous appearances on the recordings of and performances with artists including Odetta, Jimmy LaFave, Ribbon of Highway Woody Guthrie Tribute, Greg Brown, Richard Shindell, Ellis Paul, Dave Moore, Andy White and Bo Ramsey. His twenty year touring career has led him from the taverns of the upper Mississippi River to the castles of Italy, The Canary Islands, The Yup'ik villages of Alaska and Carnegie Hall.Call 518-891-1990 for more Info.

August 5-7.The 53rd annual Come to the Fair, will be held on Tuesday, August 5 through Thursday, August 7, 10 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Cantwell Community Room, Saranac Lake Free Library, 109 Main Street. August 8, 2008.Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series presents Phil Henry.PHIL HENRY is a singer-songwriter and music educator in southern Vermont. He sings funky, folk-pop acoustic originals which reflect the aspirations and realities of his small-town upbringing.

AWA Marathon to Tupper Lake,Sunday, August 10 at 9 a.m.,Tupper Lake,30 miles,This 30-mile flatwater race starts at the Saranac Inn on Upper Saranac Lake, then goes south the length of the lake to Indian Carry (1 mile) to Stoney Creek Ponds. Paddlers make their way down the twisty Stoney Creek and turn right onto Raquette River. The river leads to Simon Pond, where the race ends at the Tupper Lake Rod & Gun Club.

August 15, 2008-Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series-Searson is a high energy roots/pop band performing live in 2008 and 2009 throughout Canada, the U.S. and Europe. These three sisters, Erin, Heather and Colleen Searson deliver a strong and fiery live show that includes Erin on lead vocals, piano and mandolin, Heather on bass and Colleen on lead fiddle, vocals and mandolin. The live show includes talented musicians on acoustic and electric guitars and drums. All three sisters step dance and add this highlight to their live performances! As the Chairman of the Oswego Music Hall in New York states, "...few can match the high energy playing and step dancing put on by Searson."

Growing up in the Ottawa Valley in Ontario, Canada, Erin, Heather and Colleen have been playing music and performing together from a very young age. The Cabin Fever Quilters of Saranac Lake, NY will hold their Eleventh, Quilt Show and Sale on August 14 (10 - 8), August 15 (10 - 4) and August 16 (10 - 4). It will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, 57 Church Street, Saranac Lake, NY. Admission is free. It will feature quilts, a silent auction and special exhibits. Adirondack Canoe Classic, Friday through Sunday, September 5-7,Old Forge, Long Lake, Saranac Lake,90 miles,This three-day, 90-mile flatwater race follows the original highways of the Adirondacks from Old Forge to Saranac Lake. The course offers a mix of lake and river flatwater paddling with several carries. Participants receive a T-shirt, mileage pins, awards, camping, snacks, boat shuttles and a post race meal. Entry forms for this race go out via U.S. Mail in June. The event is limited to 250 canoes. Entry deadline in July 25. For more information, visit the 90-Miler Web page.

September 12,13,14,... Annual Civil War Enrichment Days Weekend. This event will be a look at the past, (1860’s), during the most turbulent years in American history. The American Civil War would cost the lives of 632,026 men, women & children not counting civilians. A war which would cost approximately $2.5 million per day, (in 1860), for 4 years, to wage. A war where American fought Americans, fathers fought sons, and brothers fought brothers. A war which would involve every major country in the world. Long Lake Long Boat,Regatta,Saturday, September 27 at 10 a.m.Long Lake,20-miles, 10 miles,The feature event for this event is the North American War Canoe Championships, a 20-mile race on Long Lake. Other races include the C-4 marathon, and unlimited kayak, canoe kayak, guideboat and outrigger races for youth and adults. All races begin and end at the beach across from the Adirondack Hotel.

The Adirondack Artists' Guild, located at 52 Main St., Saranac Lake is a retail fine art gallery featuring the works of 14 local artists members. Open 7 days a week, including Thursday and Friday evenings during the summer, the gallery presents a new exhibit every month.
