Saranac Lake ArtWorks celebrates 10th anniversary of Studio Tours with extended tour dates!

All are invited to enjoy a behind-the-canvas experience as Saranac Lake artists will open their workspaces to the public for additional weekends this year in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Saranac Lake ArtWorks’ popular Studio Tours.

The 2017 Studio Tours will be held on the last weekend of each month, beginning June 30, July 1 and 2, and continuing through November. The tours are self-guided and free to the public. Tour hours are 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, and noon - 3 p.m. on Sundays.

The tours are an opportunity to learn about each artist’s process, inspiration, and materials; see works in all stages of progress; and watch artists demonstrate their techniques in a wide variety of styles, subjects, and media including painting, pastel, ceramics, printmaking, woodcarving, fused glass, photography, fiber art and more.

“The critical mass of artists and galleries here merits the additional tour dates,” said Georgeanne Gaffney, event organizer and artist. “With six monthly events, folks will be able to spread their studio visits over more than one weekend if they wish.” Event participants are invited to take a walking tour of studios and galleries in downtown Saranac Lake, and plan their visit to include artists further afield in Bloomingdale, Onchiota, Gabriels, Lake Placid and other surrounding areas, exploring the North Country’s beautiful landscapes and vibrant communities.

Information about each artist, the dates they will be participating, and maps for tour planning are found on the ArtWorks website.
