Deer Pond Bike Trail

This scenic loop features three ponds and abundant wetland areas, with hills and a stringer bridge.

This is a 7.3 mile loop rated Intermediate, up to Advanced if the whole loop is traversed.

Trailhead: Leave Saranac Lake on Route 3 to the west, and pass the junction of NY 3 & NY 30 for another .6 miles. Turn north onto Old Wawbeek Road. Look for the DEC trailhead sign for the parking area.

Head west along Old Wawbeek road over a semi-paved, rough, road. Ride the up-and-down singletrack past Mosquito Pond and Deer Pond. Trail junction at 4.3 miles, with a left going to lunch spot with view overlooking pond. Going back and turning right at the junction creates the loop, and turns into an Advanced course.

Tricky side hill riding, then the bridge over the wetlands. When rejoining truck trail at the 5.8 mile point, turn right (south) to follow the truck trail another 1.5 miles to complete the loop. Well marked trails and plenty of roller coaster action.
