DRIVING

From Metropolitan New York & New Jersey Area:
Take the New York State Thruway (I-87) north to exit 24 (Albany). Continue on I-87 (Adirondack Northway) to Exit 30. Follow Route 9 north to Route 73, west to Route 86, and west to Saranac Lake.

From Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse,& points west:
Take the New York State Thruway (I-90) east to I-81 in Syracuse. Follow I-81 north to Watertown, then take Route 3 east to Saranac Lake.

From Ottawa:
Take routes south to the Cornwall Bridge. Pick up Route 37 east to Malone. Follow Route 30 south to Route 86 east to Saranac Lake.

From Montreal:
Take Autoroute 15 south to the Champlain crossing, where it connects with I-87 south. Take either Exit 38 to Route 374 west to Route 3 west to Saranac Lake, or take Exit 34 west, follow Route 9N to Route 86, and then follow Route 86 west to Saranac Lake.

Alternative route
A different way to and from Saranac Lake (for those traveling on North Bound I-87) would be to exit the at the Newcomb/Long Lake Exit. Head to Tupper Lake from Long Lake. In Tupper Lake take Route 3 to Saranac Lake. This is a little long route, though very scenic, but during the congestion that holding a large event like Ironman it will possibly a quicker way to and from Saranac Lake.

AIR SERVICE

The Adirondack Regional Airport
Only 9 miles from the village of Saranac Lake, offers commercial flights via Continental Airlines. Call 800/525-0280 for flight information and reservations. Flights are available from many eastern locations. The Adirondack Airport phone number is (518) 891-4600.

RAIL SERVICE

AMTRAK
Operates between New York City and Montreal, with connections east or west available in Albany-Rensselaer. Local stops are in Westport and in Plattsburgh, NY (both 50 miles from Saranac Lake). For AMTRAK schedule information and reservations, call 1-800-USA-RAIL (872-7245).

BUS SERVICE

TRAILWAYS

Operates daily between New York City and Saranac Lake, with connections east or west available in Albany. Their bus depot in Saranac Lake is conveniently located at the Hotel Saranac, 100 Main Street; the depots number is (518) 891-3300. For Trailways schedule information, call 1-800-858-8555.
