Adirondack Plein Air Festival

"Plein Air" painting is a French term that refers to painting outdoors, on location and the 3rd weekend in August, plein air painters from all over the country come to Saranac Lake to paint the village and surrounding scenic areas. The 4 day Adirondack Plein Air Festival has numerous painting activities and culminates with a Show & Sale on the final Sunday, in the Harrietstown Town Hall. Spectators are more than welcome to pick up maps of painting locations and to visit artists on the spot. An original painting, that you witnessed being created, is a great and environmentally safe way to take home a piece of the Adirondacks!
