Directions to Access Points:
From the intersection of state Route 3 and Route 86 in Saranac Lake, follow state Route 86 toward Paul Smiths. Continue for 5 miles and turn left on state Route 186. Follow it for 4 miles to its end at Route 30. Follow Route 30 toward Tupper Lake for 5.6 miles and turn right on Floodwood Road. Follow it for 5.1 miles to the Long Pond Trail on the right where, there is ample parking.
Quite limited. Best fished from a canoe or kayak.
Via a 0.2 mile portage from the trailhead. The portage is mostly downhill and easy. No motors are allowed.
While the lake does have salmon, brook trout, panfish, and even lake trout, it is best known for its bass fishing. Use downed timber and rocky points to locate the bass. There are plenty of camping opportunities on the pond if you want to make a weekend out of it and visit Pink, Slang, Mountain, and Ledge Ponds.
