BLOOMINGDALE BOG
Very leisurely trail through stands of spruce and tamarack, then into one of the largest bogs in northern NY, offering panoramic views, an abundance of unique pla nt life and good birdwatching; stunning in autumn when tamaracks turn gold!

Difficulty: Very Easy
Trailhead: Trail can be accessed from two directions: From NY 86 Go approximately 1.5 miles North past the Adirondack Medical Center, Take right onto dirt road, park at gate, follow old railbed.
TRAIL TO MIDDLE SARANAC
An easy stroll to a beautiful beach and the warm, shallow waters of Middle Saranac Lake.
Trail length: 1.5 miles round trip
Difficulty: Easy
Trailhead: Follow NY Route 3 approximately 8.9 miles west of Saranac Lake to parking area on right; follow trail to Middle Saranac (a.k.a. Round Lake) (NOTE: Trail to Ampersand Mountain is across Route 3 from parking lot).

Mount Baker
A short, gradual climb to one of the best views in the Adirondacks; from this 2,452 foot summit, there is a sweeping vista encompassing the Saranac Lakes and the High Peaks. A great climb for the whole family!
Trail length: 1.8 miles round trip (900' ascent)
Difficulty: Easy to moderate
Trailhead: From downtown Saranac Lake, go up to Main Street to its intersection with Dugway; turn right onto and at the end of Dugway, then take the first left (Forest Hill Ave); proceed straight to Moody Pond, where trailhead is marked by a sign on the left.
Haystack Mountain
From this small, rocky summit located midway between Saranac Lake and Lake Placid, there are expansive views of the High Peaks, the Saranacs, and other large lakes.
Trail length: 6.5 miles round trip (1,240' ascent)
Difficulty: Moderate to Steep
Trailhead: From Saranac Lake, take NY 86 East to Ray Brook, proceed 1.6 miles past NY State DEC Headquarters to parking area on left. Follow blue DEC trail markers. Ampersand Mountain
The vista from this open summit is superbstirring panorama that takes in the Saranac Lakes, Tupper Lake, Long Lake, and the High Peaks.

Trailhead: From Saranac Lake, take NY Route 3 West approximately 8 miles to parking area on right; trail to Ampersand Mountain is across the highway (NOTE: to the RIGHT is the trail to Middle Saranac Lake.) |
