McKenzie Pond Boulder Trail

Well marked trails with minimal elevation wind through some spectacular glacial errata. There are boulders the size of bungalows here!

A favorite of rock climbers who wish to test their bouldering skills, photographers who are looking for interesting rock formations without a lot of walking, and children (of all ages) who wish to see something interesting right away, these easy trails show off some fascinating hunks of granite with very little effort.

Trailhead: From the visitor center in Saranac Lake, take a left onto Brandy Brook. At the railroad tracks, turn right onto McKenzie Pond Road and follow it for 1.8 miles. On the right there is a small parking area marked with three red and white PARKING AREA signs. If you see an abandoned barn, you have gone too far.

Park in the parking area and continue for about 100 yards, to a telephone pole on the left marked LI 4, NM 36, NYT 15. The trail begins just behind it.
