Jenkins Mountain

From the VIC parking area, cross the paved road and locate the gated woods road which will be to your right and a bit further down from the gazeebo. Once on the woods road you will have a flat and wide snowshoe for quite some time. The trail will slowly come to a mild descent before leveling off again and making a hard left. Passing by a couple small beaver ponds the trail will sweep around the base of the mountain before climbing steeply to the partially open summit. Outstanding views will await you as you look over the waterways in the area and gaze upon some very attractive wilderness peaks.

Trailhead: From the intersection of Route 30 and Route 3 in Tupper Lake follow Route 3/30 toward Saranac Lake. Once Route 3 and Route 30 split take a left and follow Route 30 toward Fish Creeks. Stay on Route 30 and pass through Lake Clear and Paul Smiths. 1 mile past Paul Smith's College, locate the VIC entrance on the left. Parking is just down the road a ways.

It can take more than 5 hours to complete this hike.
