Saranac Lake's downtown
An urban vibe where creative energy flows freely!

Saranac Lake's historic downtown is the perfect place to spend some time - there are galleries, gardens, artists' studios, gift shops, park benches, restaurants and other small businesses that are a regular part of life in a small town. Century old buildings and family-owned shops take you back to a time long gone from most American's lives.

Free parking is available in several locations, so park and take a stroll. Historic signage identifies some of the notable buildings.  Maps for a historic walking tour can be obtained from Historic Saranac Lake at the Saranac Laboratory Museum on Church Street. Watch for the signs that mark the entry ways to the RiverWalk and enjoy following the brick path along the Saranac River as it winds through town. Dine in one of the restaurants or get a take-out meal and sit at the picnic tables in Riverside Park.

Saranac Lake has also made history by being home to the first and only locally developed, community-owned department store - The Community Store of Saranac Lake. A family-friendly, walking community, Saranac Lake invites you to bring your children to the Adirondack Carousel and playgorund in William Morris Park. Step back in time and enjoy the old-fashioned, hometown atmosphere of Saranac Lake.

Experience a day downtown!
