Hiking in Saranac Lake

Hiking is both a local and visitor favorite in the Adirondacks, and Saranac Lake is a great central hub for beginner and experienced hikers alike. With access not only to the Adirondacks' 46 High Peaks, hikers can find hundreds of additional beautiful trails ready to be explored.

For a less aggressive vacation hike, try any of the Saranac Lake 6ers. Baker Mountain, a 1.8-mile roundtrip, is suitable for any skill level with its 890-foot ascent to a 2,457-foot elevation. Baker Mountain lends time to enjoy a true Adirondack hike and still have time to enjoy other things Saranac Lake has to offer.

Before heading out, be sure to review Leave No Trace ethics to ensure you're protecting the Adirondacks for future generations! The DEC is a great resource for more outdoor recreation related information.
