Floodwood Pond to Long Pond

Parking directions outlined below will get you to the carry trail to access Long Pond and Floodwood Pond if you are not paddling through.

The distance from Floodwood Pond to Floodwood Road is very short and easy. Located at the crossing is Saint Regis Canoe outfitters, where during open season, boat repair, cold drinks, supplies and rations can be purchased. The carry continues on the opposite side of the road toward Long Pond. Not far into the woods the trail splits. Straight leads along a foot trail (carry) and left leads down to a beaver pond (put-in). Here you have the choice to carry the foot trail or paddle for a while through the beaver pond and rejoin the trail further up. If you do decide to carry; the trail isn’t too bad, but you will have to get across the bottom of a beaver dam over some, not-so well-secured boards. If you put in at the beaver marsh you will need to paddle through toward the west to the top of the above mentioned beaver dam. You can take out on the north side of the beaver dam and be right at the trail.

From here the trail climbs slightly to enter the forest and continue for quite some distance over rolling hills to the put-in on the south shore of Long Pond.
