Rat Pond

From the parking lot, walk back up to the railroad tracks and follow them further west along a well-develop dirt path. The pond will be on the left in about 0.25 miles. There is a short steep dirt launch on the shore. Across the pond on the west side is a nice rock feature for a picnic, fishing, or just relaxing.

Brandy Pond: 0.9 miles


Parking to Rat Pond: 0.25 miles

How to get there:

From the intersection of Route 3 and Route 86 in Saranac Lake follow Route 86 toward Paul Smiths. Continue for 5 miles to Route 186 on the left. Follow Route 186 for 4 miles to its end at Route 30. Follow Route 30 toward Tupper Lake for just under 3 miles to Fish Hatchery Road on the right. Follow here for 0.5 miles to the dirt road entrance for Little Clear Pond. Cross the railroad tracks and take a left onto another dirt road and drive this to the parking for Fish Pond.
