PRESS RELEASE

Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Receives Funds

From Town of Harrietstown in Support of Airport Marketing Campaign

SARANAC LAKE, NY - The Town of Harrietstown voted during its regular Board meeting on Thursday, January 25, 2007, to allocate $2,000 from the Adirondack Regional Airport marketing budget to the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce’s Airport Marketing Task Force to support its marketing efforts of the Adirondack Regional Airport’s $78 roundtrip airfare to the newly added route to Albany.  The airfare includes taxes and other fees.

The Airport Marketing Task Force is spearheading a marketing campaign to bring awareness of added air services to Albany and competitive fares to and from the Adirondack Regional Airport.  This program is in partnership with CommutAir, a Continental Connection affiliate based in Plattsburgh, NY.

The Town of Harrietstown funds are in addition to funds committed by CommutAir last month.

“The comments regional airports hear is how expensive it is to fly to a metropolitan area,” said Adirondack Regional Airport Manager Chris Kreig.  “Thanks to this partnership with CommutAir, the new Albany destination is only $78.  The Chamber’s Airport Marketing Task Force is helping with publicizing the fare so that everyone knows about it!”

Additionally, the Task Force is working on creating visitor packages including accommodations, transportation, and activities for everyone’s taste.

“This time of the year, people are planning their Spring Break vacation and we want them to know they can fly affordably in and out of the Tri-Lakes area,” said Chamber Executive Director Sylvie D. Nelson.

Local residents taking advantage of this low cost fare have the added bonus of parking their car for free at the Adirondack Regional Airport.   “When you look at the time it takes to drive to Albany, the cost of parking and gas, flying for $78 becomes a great option,” Nelson said.

The fare can be purchased at the Continental Airlines website, www.continental.com.  The Adirondack Regional Airport code is SLK.

As with any promotion, prices are subject to change.  A one-way ticket is $40.
