The Community Store

When you next visit downtown Saranac Lake, don't forget to build in a bit of extra time to visit some of the small retail shops and fine restaurants.  We at The Community Store (right across from the historic Hotel Saranac) offer a comfortable and cozy atmosphere with a personality not often found in our world of the big box store.

The Community Store recently celebrated its 6th Anniversary as New York State's only community-owned department store - a model for local sustainability.  But shopping at The Community Store is not only a vote for preserving and protecting a healthy economy in the Park, it is convenient, enjoyable and smart.

With a wide variety of reasonably-priced household essentials, clothing for the family and some not so easy to find items, we are here for you.  If we don't have what you want or need, we can direct you to a store downtown that may be able to help.  The Community Store is also eager for suggestions and will special order whatever we can.

We are small but offer a comprehensive selection of products, including:

- Men's, women's and children's clothing, outerwear and of course socks & underwear

 - Clothing and accessories for the baby

 - Essentials for the home - housewares, tabletop items, kitchen gadgets, pillows, sheets and blankets

 - Books, puzzles, art and craft kits

 - Locally made Products including jewelry, foods, chocolates and candles

 - Notions, art supplies, crafting items and yarn - our Yarn Club now boasts over 350 members

Quality, recognizable brands and those much needed everyday items at fair and reasonable pricing is what we strive to bring to both residents and visitors in the Tri-Lakes Region.

Finding products that are eco-friendly, locally-made as well as, so far as possible, items and brands that proudly carry the “Made in the USA” logo – that is our goal and commitment to our customers.

The Community Store is building a loyal following by staying true to its values and commitment to the community.
