2014

Here are just a few of the events happening around Saranac Lake in the next few weeks.  Don't forget you can use your mobile to also search for more events and nearby restaurants, lodging and activities and attractions.

ARTS IN THE REGION

Arts are a large part of our summer event offerings here in the Saranac Lake area. Every week there are a multitude of cultural events for everyone to choose from. From Pendragon Theatre productions to the free concerts in the park, we've got you covered if you're looking for some fun arts programs.

OUTDOOR MOVIES

A special treat  are the FREE Downtown Outdoor Movies playing in Downtown Saranac Lake this summer.  On Friday, July 18 and Tuesday, July 29, take a step into the past and enjoy outdoor theatre. The Iron Giant plays on the 18th and The Lego Movie plays on the 29th. It's a unique way to spend a summer evening.

Plein Air Festival

PAUL SMITH VISITOR INTERPReTIVE CENTER

The Paul Smiths VIC is busy this summer with activities and events to keep you and your kids busy.  If you're into trail running, the VIC sponsors Summer Fun Trail Runs every other Wednesday throughout the summer & fall at 6 pm. The trail runs take place through October 8 (next run takes place July 30).

The VIC offers regularly scheduled hikes and workshops as well as the much-anticipated Plein Air Festival "Paint the VIC" event on August 16th. The public is welcome (and it's free) to walk around and see artists at work "plein air" (outdoors), painting along the trail system of the VIC. The VIC event is part of the larger Adirondack Plein Air Festival in Saranac Lake August 15-18. Artists will be around the region painting in the open air. Exhibits will feature the artists' works at various locations during the festival.

around historic downtown

Historic Downtown Saranac Lake

Along with the Outdoor Movie Night, lots of downtown events are on the docket for your entertainment. Don't miss the Saranac Lake Farmers Market in Riverside Park every Saturday from 9 am - 2 pm. This is one of the largest farmers markets in the region, making for a huge selection of goods. The weekly free concerts take place each Wednesday night on the Berkeley Green beginning at 7 pm. Historic Saranac Lake offers occasional tours of downtown and other historic locations in the village, including a tour of a historic Cure Cottage on July 24. This tour is offered the fourth Thursday of each month, through September. Historic Saranac Lake will also team up with the Village Improvement Society to offer a free walking tour of 3 VIS-owned parks on Saturday July 26th at 10 a.m. Don't miss the Third Thursday Art Walks every  third Thursday of each month through September. The village, downtown businesses, nonprofits and galleries will host the talents of regional and local artists and musicians of various genres from 5:00 to 7:30pm.

If you can't find enough to satisfy your events appetite from this list, go to our complete events calendar and check out the host of additional offerings there. Spend a few days exploring our beautiful and historic village - find lodging offerings on our Where to Stay page. See you on the avenue!
