The Saranac Lake Arts and Culture Master Plan project continues to move forward, and hired consultant, AMS Planning and Research, recently presented their market research at a meeting held October 26.
The creation of an Arts and Culture Master Plan aims to provide actionable strategies for strengthening the arts, artists, and economy in the area and make the Saranac Lake Area a world-class destination for arts and culture. The Village of Saranac Lake, with partners in the public, private, education, arts, and cultural sectors is spearheading the project.
At the October 26 visioning workshop, AMS staff presented the findings of a comprehensive survey designed to:
•Measure community interest and participation in arts and culture
•Identify demand for arts and cultural activities
•Gather feedback regarding the Village’s arts and cultural programming and facilities
•Understand drivers of attendance
•Understand the community’s willingness to pay for arts and cultural activities
•Identify priorities for investment in the Village’s arts and cultural marketplaces
The survey was completed by 326 respondents including permanent and seasonal residents, homeowners, visitors and college students.
The results of the survey and the market analysis completed by AMS can be found here.
The next public meeting will be January 10 at 6:30 p.m. in the Saranac Lake Free Library. At the meeting AMS will share their draft findings and recommendations and solicit feedback from the committee and public.
