Saranac Lake Free Library

The Library is open to all residents and visitors to the region, without qualification or restrictions and cooperates as appropriate with other educational institutions and citizen or service organizations of parallel purpose within our region.

Materials:

Books - We have a great collection of books, both fiction and non-fiction, for the beginning reader to the advanced investigator, including large print, graphic novels, and research materials. 

Periodicals- We subscribe to multiple newspapers and magazines and offer the newest issues for your perusal in house, back issues are available for checkout.  As well as offering access to online periodicals through Flipster.

Audiobooks- For those patrons who may prefer to listen to their literature we have a solid selection of audiobooks on CD as well as many titles available for download.

DVDs - We've got movies! Movies for children, movies for teenagers, movies for adults. Action movies, romance movies, silly movies, documentaries and foreign language films too! In addition to our (largely donated by the generous public) collection, every month we receieve DVDs that circulate through the C.E.F. system.

Library Cards:

FREE to Clinton, Essex, and Franklin County residents and property owners. Please have valid identification and proof of residence when applying for a Library Card.

A parent's signature is needed for youth under 14 years of age.
Students attending Clinton, Essex, or Franklin County colleges are eligible for a library card regardless of home address.

We are closed for the following holidays:

New Year's Day, MLK Jr. Day, President's Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day Weekend, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Day
