FALL is cool is Saranac Lake
If you're looking for the coolest events and endless opportunities for outdoor recreation, you've come to the right place. In Saranac Lake, we take fall seriously.
There's something going on every week in Saranac Lake, so check out our events calendar, or simply take a stroll though our scenic downtown. You'll find artists at work, musicians at play, and plenty of options for food and shopping.
Where artists play
Every year, Saranac Lake hosts free arts and music events, like the Artist at Work Studio Tour, Party on the Patio, Downtown Summer Concert Series, and HoboFest. There's even a new, month-long paddling event in June called the Northern Forest Canoe Trail Paddlers Freshet Fest — check it out. And don't forget to stop by the farmers market and meet some of our local farmers and artisans. It's held every Saturday in Riverside Park.
Want to get out of town? Put in a boat at the Lake Flower docks and paddle to Oseetah Lake, where you can sit back and enjoy views of the surrounding mountains or continue on to Lower Saranac Lake. For a backcountry experience, head for the St. Regis Canoe Area and spend the day — or the weekend — exploring dozens of lakes and waterways.
If you're a land lubber, take a hike! Start right in town with the easy, 0.9-mile hike to the summit of Mount Baker and enjoy sweeping views of the Adirondack High Peaks. If you want more, take on the rest of the Saranac Lake 6ers. There are six mountains, including Baker, in the Saranac Lake region that need to be climbed to earn the 6er patch. Take the challenge!
Hiking in the Saranac Lake Region doesn't always mean gaining elevation. Take the short drive to the Paul Smith's College VIC and go on a naturalist tour or explore the many forests and wetlands on the property. With 25 miles of trails, there's a lot of ground to cover!
If wheels are you thing, you can bike around the village or head to Mount Pisgah to get down and dirty on some of the coolest mountain bike trails around.
Dine out at one of our many restaurants, or sample the good stuff at our local brewery. Wake up to an Adirondack breakfast with real maple syrup for those flapjacks, and end the day by discovering our nightlife, which often has live music.
Saranac Lake is in the center of the action, and it's less than an hour drive from many delightful attractions. Explore lodging in the Adirondacks today and plan your getaway. See you this summer!
