Paddling in the Saranac Lake Area
Endless waterways ready to be explored

What's in a name?

We're called Saranac Lake for a reason; three reasons, actually! There are three Saranac lakes — Upper, Middle, and Lower — and they're all connected by the Saranac River. On its way downtown, the river meanders away from Lower Saranac Lake and connects Oseetah Lake and Lake Flower to the Saranac Lake chain. That opens up all sorts of paddling opportunities, and since Lake Flower is right downtown you can begin and end your paddling adventure just a short walk from dining, shopping, and nightlife

Within the six million acre Adirondack Park there are more than 30,000 miles of streams and brooks, 2,300 ponds and lakes, and 1,500 miles of rivers. If you want to be more immersed in nature, the nearby St. Regis Wilderness Canoe Area provides some of the finest secluded paddling and camping locations in the east. Stunning views and pristine waters are ideal for observing osprey, bald eagles, beaver, and other wildlife, making this area a photographer's (and artist’s) dream.

No canoe? No problem!

Paddling is one of our favorite Adirondack outdoor activities, and we have gear to spare. Break out your canoe, kayak, SUP (stand up paddleboard), or inflatable watercraft — or rent one — and experience what an Adirondack flatwater tour is all about! We're talking wildlife, fresh air, clean water, and a complete departure from your 9-to-5 routine and rush-hour traffic.

Camp on an island, enjoy that one-of-a-kind view, take in the evening's star-filled skies, and so much more.
