"Life is like riding a bicycle.

To keep your balance, you must keep moving forward."

- Albert Einstein

DACK Bikes is Saranac Lake’s decidedly different means of transportation! Now, you and your loved ones can explore everything Saranac Lake has to offer on two wheels.

What are DACK Bikes?

A collection of bikes are racked and ready to ride!

DACK Bikes are a local bike share located at various locations throughout the village of Saranac Lake. Each DACK Bike station has numerous bikes for use by the public, and the unisex frame has an adjustable seat post to fit riders between 5’2” and 6’5”. Every bike includes a low step-through frame, something incredibly useful for those who may have difficulty stepping over a traditional bike frame. But my absolute favorite feature on the bike is the bell which will announce to the world that you’ve arrived!

Adjust your saddle to the height you need, and you are ready to explore the town!

Where can I ride my DACK Bike?

Get ready to explore here, there, and everywhere in Saranac Lake and beyond! As long as you pick up your bike and return it to any available rental station, the world is your oyster!

Where can I find a DACK Bike rental station?

DACK Bikes can be rented at Woods & Waters, Nori’s Village Market, Fusion Market, Saranac Lake Waterfront Lodge, and Best Western Saranac Lake.

A group of bikes are racked and waiting to be ridden in front of a local market.

I’m in! How does it all work?

Download the Movatic app to your phone. The app will use your location to provide a map of the closest rental stations.

Once you arrive to your selected DACK Bike rental station, use the app to finish the rental process! You will be asked to submit your credit card information, as well as the number of your selected bike. Bike numbers are located on the bike frame. Simply unlock, ride, return, and repeat! Users can rent up to two bikes at a time.

A sign explains how the bike share system works.
Every DACKS Bike has this sign on its bike rack to help guide you through the steps of renting your bike.

The cost of rentals are $8/hr or $2/15 minutes. There is a $100 credit card hold upon first renting the bike. This hold is released within thirty minutes of returning your bike.

In need of a helmet? No problem! Human Power Planet Earth is the place to go. Just stop in and ask to rent a helmet for your ride!

Do I have to return my DACK Bike to the original rental station?

Not one bit! You may return your bike to any of the available DACK Bike rental station locations. Use your app to see where the closest rental station is located!

Start at Noris and end at The Waterfront Lodge, if you'd like! DACK Bikes can be returned to any available rental location.

Pro tip: when returning your bike, make sure you use the app to select that you are done riding your bike in order to stop the clock used to charge the final rental fee to your credit card.

Enjoy your day of exploring the town on two wheels! Stop at any one of our restaurants, stop in one of our local shops or attractions, or kick your feet up and relax by the water. Happy riding!

You and your loved ones can enjoy a spectacular day of cruising the town on DACK Bikes.
