Saranac Lake is home to its own village ski center at Mount Pisgah Recreation Center, a welcoming spot for winter recreation of all kinds. With 15 skiable acres, the mountain offers downhill skiing and snowboarding supported by snowmaking to help maintain reliable conditions throughout the season. Riders can explore a friendly terrain park, take advantage of gate training for alpine racers, or enjoy the added fun of snow tubing. Snowshoe trails add another way to experience the landscape, and with both daytime and night skiing and tubing available, Mount Pisgah offers alpine adventure from morning into the evening.

Nearby alpine skiing

For a full-day ski resort with all the amenities, head to Whiteface just a few minutes outside the village of Lake Placid. The Olympic mountain, host of the 1980 Winter Olympic alpine events, features the greatest vertical drop in the East. Whiteface Mountain offers multiple lodges, dining and après ski options, and terrain for all levels from beginner to expert, including glade skiing, the Slides, and a full snow sports school and terrain parks for younger skiers and riders.

For slopes that are fun and especially family-friendly, head north to Titus Mountain. Titus offers great options for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. The ski-banas provide a private place to warm up, enjoy a snack you bring yourself, and relax between runs.
