Saranac Lake is a village full of unique history, from Indigenous people and tuberculosis cure cottages to famous visitors and unique entrepreneurs. To celebrate this, visit Saranac Lake museums, historic sites, and historical society exhibits to learn the history of Saranac Lake!

The learning never ends

And that's a good thing!

You can learn all about Saranac Lake's historic legacy as a tuberculosis treatment destination at the Saranac Laboratory Museum or on the traveling Cure Porch. Historic Saranac Lake has an exciting major expansion set to open in summer 2026, featuring a new historic building and significant exhibits on the history of the village.

Take the scenic drive out to the Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center to view over 3,000 artifacts with an emphasis on the culture of the Six Nations of the Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee). Immerse yourself in art, music, storytelling, and thousands of years of history!
