ACW's Poem Village Reading and Barkreaders Opening Night

About

ACW Poem Village Celebration and Barkreaders Open-Mic

Date & Time:
Tuesday, May 14, 7:00 PM

Location:
Adirondack Center for Writing (ACW)
15 Broadway, Saranac Lake

Description:
Join us for the biggest Poem Village celebration yet! ACW's annual Poem Village project features poems from 237 poets displayed in shop windows around Saranac Lake, Malone, and St. Lawrence County until May 19. To honor this record-breaking year, ACW invites all contributing poets to a free public reading event.

The evening will feature poet, percussionist, and paramedic Jane Boxall from Lewis, NY, who will present her new chapbook, "Please Don't Need Everything It Hurts." This experimental collection of haiku was composed using the predictive text feature on Boxall's smartphone, resulting in a unique and intriguing poetic journey. Limited copies of the handmade chapbook will be available for purchase.

Following Boxall's reading, Poem Village participants are encouraged to share their work during the open-mic segment of the event. All published poems are under 25 lines, and ACW aims to bring the Poem Village installation to life with this live presentation.

This event is part of ACW's ongoing Barkreaders open-mic series and is free and open to the public. Register online at adirondackcenterforwriting.org.
