The last Saturday in August is the date for the 22nd edition of the Best Ride in the Adirondacks. This year’s edition will see a few changes to the routes but all the challenge, reward, and fun remain the same. Named after a local plumber and cycling enthusiast, the Pat Stratton Ride is a road cycling tour featuring some of the most stunning scenery and terrain in the northern Adirondacks. An important part of the event is that registrations and sponsorships support a wide variety of youth programs, including an annual bicycle rodeo, free helmet distribution and fitting, support for the school back-pack program, support for foster children, college and summer camp scholarships, and much more. The three bicycle routes (22, 49, and 98 mile) will all be marked as starting and ending at the Mt Pisgah parking area. Ride start times are staggered depending on the route. Each route is fully supported with a follow vehicle and feed station(s). Route maps are available at for printing or downloading. Registration is open at, and in addition to providing important support for youth programs, your registration includes the 22nd Anniversary performance sports shirt, post ride BBQ, fantastic pies and a raffle. See the Saranac Lake Kiwanis website for more info on the programs they support (
