Planning, safety, and parking
If you are new to the region or to paddling in general, take time to prepare before heading out. Conditions can change quickly throughout the day, so being ready for shifting weather, wind, and water conditions is key to a safe and enjoyable experience. Always know your route, bring the right gear, and do not hesitate to turn back or use a bailout option if conditions become unsafe.
Parking is limited at many launch points, so plan ahead. When possible, unload your gear first and then move your vehicle to a designated parking area. Be sure to only park in approved spots, as improper parking may result in a ticket.
