Recreate Responsibly

It is important to remember to show love and care for this amazing natural wonderland. Going on an all-day adventure? Remember to pack the right gear. Going somewhere new? Prepare by doing plenty of research before you go, and familiarize yourself with the map and weather. This is the perfect time to learn about Leave No Trace and take the Love Your ADK pledge. You can help preserve our wild spaces for generations.

Summer conditions advisory for trails

Trail closure - The NYSDEC has announced that the Scarface Trail is closed due to unsafe public use of the bridge. The bridge and the Scarface Mountain Trail will remain closed out of an abundance of caution until the structure is replaced, which is expected sometime next year (2024). Planning is underway to replace the bridge. Users should not attempt to use the bridge or cross the brook on foot.

An important notice regarding Baker Mountain - If you are planning to hike Baker Mountain, please plan ahead as parking at the trailhead is extremely limited. It is recommended that you park downtown and walk or bike the short-mile distance to the trailhead.
