Ready for your classic Adirondack summer?

An Adirondack vacation means many things. A scenic drive through the mountains, a dip in a refreshing lake, and sunset dinners surrounded by vast wilderness. It also means settling into your own cabin. Cabins have been a staple of the Adirondacks for generations, a favorite of vacationing families, solo travelers, and honeymooning couples alike. These quiet escapes offer the best of the region, with their closeness to nature, privacy, and the tranquility that comes with settling deep in the forests of Upstate New York. Another perk? Most cabins are pet-friendly, meaning your furry family member can join in on your summer adventures. Especially during a season known for being the Adirondacks' busiest, there’s nothing better than stepping into your own secluded hideaway, primed with all the essentials to make your vacation one of a kind. Read on to get the inside scoop on our top picks!

White Pine Camp

White Pine Camp is a long-standing favorite of Saranac Lake. Once the 1926 Summer White House of President Calvin Coolidge, this Adirondack Great Camp has been lovingly restored, offering a year-round retreat in unparalleled natural surroundings. Choose from 13 distinctive cabins and cottages with soaring roof lines, hand-built Adirondack-style furniture, stone fireplaces or wood stoves, and breathtaking views. Two cottages are pet-friendly, and most have private porches or patios!

Also, as a guest, you have total and unlimited access to all their facilities. The Great Room, Japanese Tea House, bowling alley (yes, a bowling alley), pool room, Tennis House, boat houses, and outdoor decks are all available for guests to use during their stay.

Rockledge Cabins in Lake Clear

Rockledge Cabins brings authentic Adirondack retreats to Saranac Lake. Their collection of cabins has recently transformed into a four-season retreat, meaning if you loved it in summer, you can come back again when the leaves start to turn! In addition to cozy lodging, your stay includes access to bikes, kayaks, and kicksleds, making adventuring around the region even easier. Looking to head into town? Rockledge is just steps from the Adirondack Rail Trail, a wide and finished multi-use recreational trail that connects the downtowns of Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, and Tupper Lake. The grounds feature their own private trails as well, in addition to a labyrinth, Wisdom Tree, and plenty of spots to set up a campfire and roast some marshmallows.

The Magical Treehouse

There’s no other word for it, a stay at The Magical Treehouse is just that; Magical! Wake up nestled in the trees, with 360-degree views surrounding you. Designed for adults only, this is the perfect getaway for adventurers to relive their glory days spent in treehouses, now at a grander scale. The treehouse is fully insulated, making it a no-brainer to book for fall or early spring. The grounds feature a nearby cookhouse with a camping stove, a covered, screened-in area with a picnic table, chairs, and all the dishes and utensils you need. The staff at The Magical Treehouse provides bedding and towels and will even lend a hand with planning your trip!
